Lady Gaga in Dinu Bodiciu
Posted on Wednesday, February 16, 2011
Before her interview with Jay Leno, Gaga spent some instants with her fans, wearing…
… red suit by Dinu Bodiciu, MUGLER boots and Nasir Mazhar for MUGLER alien sunglasses (j’adore!).
I have to say I didn’t know Dinu until yesterday.
We “met” last night and he both gave me some more details about this look and the collection the combo belongs to, and sent me a bunch of photos and a sketch of the creation for you.
The suit Gagita wore was the highlight of Dinu’s MA collection at London College of Fashion. Made of coated cotton / rayon fabric he “discovered” in Japan.
The starting point of the collection “was the reflection of the body in mirror and the illusion a mirror triggers. Reflected in a mirror, our body is flattened and what we take for granted as a true image of ourselves, it is actually an illusion.
I became very interested in the effect of the mirror on our bodies: the way it turns 3-dimensional shapes into 2-dimensional. Playing with perception, I gave to my collection a certain flatness quality.
Since my collection was focused on human body, its shapes and perception, I used fabrics that have an ‘organic’ nature, a bodily quality. Likewise, I chose fabrics meant to amplify the effect of flatness. I perceive garments as an extension of the human body and this is what I intended to show in my collection”.
