The Edge of Glory: Lady Gaga in Versace

Posted on Sunday, June 19, 2011

The internet connection in the place my husband and myself are staying let me down for the past two and a half days. So believe it or not I just watched the video a while ago…

When I saw it for the fist time, I thought Gaga’s vintage Versace look is a combination of mainly Fall 1992 Bondage collection…

… like the boots for instance …

… and Atelier Fall 1992.

That ultra fierce collection full of TDF studded leather tops, corsets, bodices…

I would have even bet…

… however everything one can find throughout the internet is that the look belongs to Gianni’s last collection. And unfortunately I didn’t find a single picture yet that could prove it, prove me right or prove otherwise.

The last one that was shown, I believe, was Atelier 1997, the one Gaga’s beautiful black dress with Swarovski crystal shoulder jewel. And the pieces from The Edge of Glory were not seen on this show runway.

But of course, I can be wrong. Anyway anyhow… will share with you if I find out more. ;)

Donatella Versace was “greatly honored that Lady Gaga chose to wear a Versace vintage look throughout her ‘Edge of Glory’ video. I am a great fan of hers and I believe that my brother Gianni would have appreciated her talent. Like him, Lady Gaga is unafraid to push boundaries and she has created an original vocabulary by merging fashion, music, theater and art. For me, this video represents a wonderful tribute to anyone who is unafraid to take chances.”

The team behind The Edge Of Glory video were:

Laurienne Gibson and Nicola Formichetti - creative (together with Gaga) and fashion direction respectively.
Stylists – Gaga’s two fashion rainbows – Anna Trevelyan and Brandon Maxwell.
Make-up: Val Garland
Hair: Frederic Aspiras
Nails: Aya Fakuda
Saxophone: Clarence Clemons #RIPClarence

No matter what anyone says, this video is amazing because Gaga actually looks happy :) It kind of makes me think of what a music video with her and Elton would look like, ya know? She looks so happy to be sitting there with Clarence.
    RIP Clarence
