Terry Richardson’s Diary: Lady Gaga in MORDEKAI, Ray Brown Fashion and Urban Outfitters

Posted on Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Terry Richardson has released a beautiful series of pictures yesterday, capturing Lady Gaga before, during and after The Rolling Stones “One More Shot” concert:

… in the car, on her way to soundcheck, wearing Saint Laurent SS13 look, accessorized with custom made MORDEKAI cage adorned with chains and her trademark cherub.

You’ll remember Gaga wearing MORDEKAI Crown Fruit and Flower Wreath and Rose Armor Rings & Flower Bracelets for the Guggenheim and Harrods FAME perfume launch events.

… backstage after the concert, in her custom made Ray Brown Fashion catsuit.

I had a chance to chat with Rhonda Zayas, graphic and fashion designer, illustrator and muse for rock fashion legend, Ray Brown:

“Ray Brown has been designing stage wear for the world’s most iconic rock bands for several decades. His clothing has graced Bon Jovi, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Muse and now Gaga, amongst many many others. The genre “rock fashion” would not be in existence if it were not for Ray Brown. High street fashion has been particularly inspired from his work with Judas Priest (leather and studs). The patchwork coat he created for Jon Bon Jovi is now with the Smithsonian, his work is legendary”.

“Particularly regarding the design for Lady Gaga, she wanted something “70′s rock”, “Ziggy Stardust” and what Ray does, as he does with all of his clients is to take the artist’s idea and create it into their “dream clothing”. I believe the pictures say volumes as to how comfortable she was in the piece created by Ray, and that is a direct reflection of him being the master of stage wear, which is an entirely different beast than everyday wear, or even high fashion. Stage wear needs to withstand the rigors of a performance/tour, and Ray specializes in that niche of fashion. The materials used to make the garment include stretch black velvet, and silver and gold leather encrusted with thousands of Swarovski crystals”.

… looove this one. Gaga and Terry backstage.

Out in New York City: Lady Gaga in ILJA

Posted on Monday, December 17, 2012

Lady Gaga was captured out in New York City this weekend, wearing a work of art from Amsterdam-based couture house ILJA by Dutch designer Ilja Visser.

This beauuutiful piece with sculptural power shoulder cropped jacket illusion rib top and mini skirt with flowy, print silk train, belongs to ILJA Fall 2012 “SkinFonie” collection.

The concept behind “SkinFonie” is the fusion of instinctive movement, sound and the art of dance, and represents a blend of modern expressionist dance with the influence of classic ballet. Both styles find their balance in symmetric, organic forms, underlined by a combination of voluminous skirts and dresses. Sculptural and edgy, yet innocent looks with super feminine feeling.

Visit ILJA to see the entire collection!

The look was styled with white fur cape, sparkling, crystal-embellished retro-style sunglasses from Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 limited edition (each of the 500 pairs comes in a crystal-encrusted case for added glamour) and Brian Atwood patent pumps!

Go Gaga: Lara Jensen “Vanitas” Maggot Sunglasses

Posted on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Just a few minutes after I published the previous article, your “need to know more about those sunnies requests started pouring into my emailbox.

The best person to introduce them to you is Lara Jensen herself, so I asked the designer to give us more deets about the Maggot Sunglasses from her upcoming SS13 “Vanitas” collection, Lara’s first full solo collection.

“The lenses are special as they are handcraft and flat. No curve in them at all, so they are very vampish. Think Bram Stoker’s Dracula/Victorian style.”, she told me. “The glasses are plated in 18k gold and have gold maggot detail on the sides, the curved ear pieces and the bridge of the nose”.

Maggot limited edition sunglasses are currently available on a made to order basis (£325.00). You can have them with black or red lenses. Contact Lara Jensen for more details.

The Rolling Stones Concert Rehearsals: Lady Gaga in Saint Laurent

Posted on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Lady Gaga tweeted a picture of herself and The Rollings Stones a while ago: “Me with the boys. When rock n’ roll gets you wet in 6. PAY PER VIEW “One More Shot” Tomorrow night 9PM Eastern”.

For The Rolling Stones concert rehearsals, Gaga donned stunning Saint Laurent SS13 high low tuxedo dress with white sequin bib and cuffs, and chiffon bow tie.

The look was styled with black hat, blonde fiber optic wig, gold plated maggot sunglasses, with maggot detail and black tinted lenses from Lara Jensen SS13 “Vanitas” collection, inspired by the symbolic art forms of Vanitas and Memento Mori originating in the 15th century, and Brian Atwood platform pumps.

Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen and The Black Keys will join The Rolling Stones for a pay-per-view special called “One More Shot”, to be telecast live worldwide TODAY at 9pm EST/6pm PST.
